Now in its Fifteenth year, the Great Lakes Fiber Show has grown from a one building craft show in the early 1990’s to a show with fiber vendors filling four buildings along with additional outside vendors.
The Wayne County Fairgrounds, 199 Vanover St., Wooster, Ohio, is an ideal location for the show. It has superior buildings for vendors and the grounds are very well kept. All streets on the grounds are blacktopped.
Show hours will run from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Admission is free and food including roast lamb sandwiches will be available on the fairgrounds.
Vendor booths will feature raw fiber to finished items; spinning, weaving, and knitting supplies, along with fiber related crafts. Last year there were over 75 vendors and this year looks to be at leat 80. There will be a wool fleece show and sale and a skein competition. Workshops will be presented with pre-registration and fees required. Free demonstrations and kids activities will also be going on.
Workshop registration as well as skein and fleece competition entry forms are included on this site. Vendor booths are already full for this year.
The Great Lakes Sheep Show and Sale will be going on at the same time. Several breeds of sheep will be judged and then auctioned off to the highest bidder. Information on the sheep show and sale can be obtained by contacting The Banner Sheep Magazine: 309-785-5058, sales.banner@sybertech.net. Their website is www.bannersheepmagazine.com.
Once again we are pleased to have the Great Lakes Angora Goat Show as part of the weekend events. The show will be held Saturday and Sunday. They will also be sponsoring a mohair fleece competition this year. For more information contact Becky Salinger 440-275-1071 or salingerr@adelphia.net. The website is www.greatlakesangoragoatshow.com
I hope you will mark your calendar and attend the show. I’m sure you will have an enjoyable time.
